How it works

Catch the Ace is a progressive raffle. Every week one ticket is drawn and one envelope is opened. Find the Ace of Spades and you take the jackpot that has been building since the series began.

Buy a ticket

$5.00 each, online. You can buy as many as you like for the same draw.

Choose an envelope

Pick one of the 47 envelopes still sealed. Each holds one card from a standard deck.

Wait for Thursday

A ticket is drawn at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Alliston Legion.

Check the result

Winning numbers go up on the Past Winners page straight after the draw.

Collect your prize

We email the winner to arrange payment, normally within two business days.

Week 6 of the series. It grows until the Ace of Spades turns up.

The draw happens in public, every Thursday.

At 7:00 p.m. ET the room fills up, one ticket is drawn from the week’s entries and the envelope chosen on it is opened in front of everyone. Weeks 1 to 26 are drawn at the Alliston Legion, weeks 27 to 52 at the Tottenham Legion.

Rules of Play

The full rules for this raffle, conducted under AGCO licence RAF1543899. Each clause has its own link, so we can point you to an exact rule if you ask us a question.

Who can play

  1. You must be 18 years of age or older to buy a ticket or claim a prize. #
  2. You must be physically located in Ontario at the moment of purchase. #
  3. Volunteers who conduct the draw, members of the raffle committee and members of their households may not take part. #
  4. Photo identification and proof of age may be required before a prize is paid. #

Ticket price and how to buy

  1. One ticket costs $5.00. There is no bulk discount. #
  2. Tickets are sold on this website only. #
  3. You may buy as many tickets as you wish for a draw, each with its own envelope selection. #
  4. An envelope added to your cart is held for 15 minutes. If you do not finish paying within that time, the hold ends and the envelope returns to the pool. #
  5. A ticket is valid for one draw only and does not carry forward. #
  6. Sales close at 2:00 p.m. ET on draw day and reopen once the result is published. #

When and where the draw happens

  1. Draws are held every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET. #
  2. Weeks 1 to 26 are drawn at the Alliston Legion; weeks 27 to 52 at the Tottenham Legion. #
  3. One ticket is drawn at random from all valid tickets for that week. #
  4. The envelope chosen on the drawn ticket is opened in public, and the card inside is shown. #
  5. A card that is not the Ace of Spades is removed from play along with its envelope. #
  6. The series continues weekly until the Ace of Spades is drawn. #

How the prize money is divided

  1. 20% of the week’s ticket sales goes to the holder of the drawn ticket. #
  2. 30% is added to the progressive jackpot. #
  3. 50% supports the charitable purposes approved under the licence. #
  4. The jackpot starts at $2,500 and grows every week until it is won. #
  5. The jackpot is paid only when the Ace of Spades is drawn. #

How winners are notified and paid

  1. Winning ticket numbers are published on this website after each draw. #
  2. We contact the winner by email, and by telephone where a number was given, normally within two business days. #
  3. Prizes are paid within fifteen business days of the winner’s identity and eligibility being confirmed. #
  4. Checking the published results remains your responsibility; notification is a courtesy. #

Unclaimed prizes

  1. An unclaimed prize is held for six months from the draw date. #
  2. After six months the licensee applies to the AGCO for approval to direct the funds to an approved recipient. #

Refunds and mistakes

  1. Tickets cannot be refunded, exchanged or cancelled once issued. #
  2. Duplicate charges and charges that produced no ticket are refunded on request. #
  3. A ticket issued in error by a technical fault is void and refunded. #
  4. Where published information conflicts with the licensee’s records, the licensee’s records prevail. #

Publishing the winner’s name

  1. We publish the winner’s first name, last initial and town with the ticket and envelope numbers and the prize amount. #
  2. Street address, telephone number and email address are never published. #
  3. A photograph is published only with the winner’s separate agreement. #
